Over 325 people gathered at the Portland Marriott at Sable Oaks to roast and celebrateLes Otten as the Cromwell Center's "Person of the Year."Jamie Kaplan, Executive Director of the Center, explained “We have chosen to honor Les as an expression of our most sincere appreciation for his many selfless dedication, inspiration, and contributions to the Center, which are a small part of the numerous public service activities that Les has spearheaded for the benefit of all Maine citizens.”
The auction and dinner raised approximately $120,000 to help support the growth of the Cromwell Center's unique disability awareness education programs in elementary schools, for prospective educators and in workplaces.
The featured guests included Larry Lucchino, President and CEO of the Boston Red Sox; Bill Ryan, Chair of the Board of TD Banknorth; Warren Cook, Saddleback Maine; Dr. Chip Crothers, co-founder of Maine Handicapped Skiing; and Lee Goldberg, Sports Anchor at WCSH-TV.
